2014 - Ongoing
Regulation and changes put in place by Public Administrations has played a large role in determining the future of energy companies, coal, hydrocarbon and renewables in the Spanish market.
These new market dynamics influenced the immediate future of Elcogas, a company owned by important European utilities (Endesa, Iberdrola, EDF Hidrocantábrico, EDP, Enel, Siemens and Krupp Koppers) and the operator of the first power plant in Spain using integrated gasification combined cycle technology and the largest in the world using coal. Dédalo has advised the company in the design and implementation of a communications strategy with a special focus on the media and implicated stakeholders. The cornerstone of our approach has been the search for regulatory alternatives to the closure of the plant and a continuous dialogue with unions.
Elcogas is a case study in how different stakeholders (politicians, regulatory bodies, unions and grass roots supporters) can directly and indirectly influence the development of communications activity. A continuous change in scenarios has meant various revisions of both internal and external communications.
